Well, corn harvest is underway. We started out slow but things have picked up over the last week. The corn is running in the 15 to 16 percent moisture. Yields are varied widely but still nothing to be dispointed about.
My friend from South Dakota came to see me weekend before last. I think Monte enjoyed the trip and we did get to see some rice being harvested while he was here.
Monte and Maw, I'm glad you guys can to Arkansas. I had a great time and really enjoyed showing you around.

Got a call from my friend Monte from South Dakota, who told me two things. One, I have not updated the web page since the last time he called and complained that I had not updated the web page, and two, it is raining so much up there that some of the crops have not been planted. Here, we can't plant for the dry, there, they are too wet to plant. Seems the market should react to that somehow.
In looking back at a month ago, I'm pleased to see that I was right about the urea. It was a steady fall on price, with the current hitting $340.00 a ton. The last couple of years has played out that way, with the price falling around pre-flood rice application. That was a $50.00 a ton drop in a month....money in your pocket.
Just a note for you Monte: the corn is at tassel, the beans that are up look good, and we have one of the best rice crops overall I have seen in a long time, but we do need a rain.
